
Ynysygerwn CC Celebrate 170 Years Of Cricket
Ynysygerwn CC will be celebrating 170 years since cricket was introduced into the village by local landowner Sir John Llewellyn. In 1847 Sir John Llewellyn formed Ynysygerwn Cricket Club and the club will celebrate from Sunday 25th June to Sunday 2nd July when they hold a week full of cricket. Ynysygerwn CC have had an indifferent start to the 2017 season, losing the first game of the season against Cardiff CC off the last ball was disappointing before a losing draw against newly promoted Penarth CC was followed by huge defeats at the hands of Pontarddulais CC and Mumbles CC. New Head Coach Impressed In "Direction Club Is Going"
Ynysygerwn CC announced the high profile signing of former Glamorgan CCC, Essex CCC and England A international Darren Thomas over the winter months. Darren joins the club with a similar role to what he held at both Mumbles CC and Bridgend CC, where he was highly successful at both, leading both sides to South Wales Premier League titles.
