Ynysygerwn CC announced the high profile signing of former Glamorgan CCC, Essex CCC and England A international Darren Thomas over the winter months. With just a matter of weeks to go in the season, four clubs are battling it out at the bottom of Division Three to maintain their Welsh League status.

Falling out the League involves dropping down into local leagues that are increasingly competitive and tough to achieve promotion from, with winning your league a must and even then some teams having to play another league winner in a one-off match for promotion.

Ynysygerwn came back from two goals down at Cwm Welfare this afternoon and picked up a valuable point in a relegation battle that looks like it will be going right to the wire.

The Memorial Park ground was bathed in a glorious sunlight for an end of season affair between two sides fighting for their Welsh League survival, that ended with a share of the points after the home side seemed to be cruising to all three.
