Darren Thomas

Head Coach

Playing Career

Darren had an illustrious 16 year professional cricketing career with Glamorgan CCC making his First Class debut against Derbyshire at the tender age of 17 years and 212 days, taking 5 for 80. During Darren's career he had the honour of playing for Young England, and he also toured with England A on two occasions, the 1998-99 tour to South Africa and Zimbabwe where he took eight wickets in the first Test and the tour to Bangladesh & New Zealand in 2000.

Coaching Career

Darren has had considerable success in his coaching career since finishing with Glamorgan. He is a qualified ECB Level 3 Coach and has aspirations to attain Level 4 in the near future.

  • Wales Minor Counties Head Coach 2012 - present

    • 2nd in West Division 2015

    • Reached one day 1/4 final on 4 occasions

    • Assisted in the development of several Glamorgan Academy and Staff Players

  • Wales U15 Head Coach 2009 - present

    • ECB Champions 2009

    • ECB Finalist 2013

  • South Wales Premier Cricket League Player/Head Coach

    • Winner 2013, 2015 

Mark Davies

Team Manager 1st XI

Playing Career

Mark had a highly successful First Class Professional Cricketing Career where he had the honour of playing for both Glamorgan CCC 1989-1992 and Gloucestershire CCC 1992-1996 as a Slow left-arm othordox bowler and Right-hand bat. In 1988 he also had a year playing for the MCC Young Cricketers (Lords Goundstaff) prior to playing for Glamorgan. 

After finishing his First Class Career Mark has been heavily involved in the Club and Captained the First XI on seven occasions in the years of 2001, 2002, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010.

  • British Police - 1998-2014 (Captain 2010-2014)

  • Northern Transvaal B 1993

Best Batting​

  • First Class Highest Score - 53 v Nottinghamshire 1994

  • List A Highest Score - 30* v 

Best Bowling​

  • First Class Best Bowling - 10-120 v Northamptonshire 1993

  • List A - 2-23 v 

Coaching Career

Mark is a qualified ECB Level 3 Coach and has aspirations to attain Level 4. Mark has been involved and been a tremendous servant to club since 1986, and over the last 20 years he has coached both Ynysygerwn's Juniors

and Seniors on a team and one-to-one basis. Mark also coached West Glamorgan u13 between 2005-7.
